Good day folks,
I hope you are enjoying the beginning of your week, today I was bored so I
started reading some old news from Yahoo entertainment, suddenly I saw an
article which made me laugh, , the title of the article was “The
president of Philippines does not want Steve Harvey anywhere near the miss
universe pageant.”. From this quote,
you would probably remember the incident that happened in 2015 when Steve
Harvey made a mistake by calling Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Miss
Philippines. That sequence was played all around the World and Mr Harvey had to
apologize countless times.Link 1
The all purpose
of this blog is to analyse situations with a public relations opinion, social
media played a huge impact regarding this event let us see how:
- Steve Harvey became a public clown:
With the
interactive nature of the web 2.0, the public had the opportunity to react to
the scandal. Through memes, complaints and insults, people were able to
express their anger and astonishment, because of that unfortunate mistake and
the social media effect, the Miss universe 2015 became memorable. Steve Harvey was not mad about it and decided
to make fun of himself by uploading a picture on Facebook with the caption
merry Easter but it was Christmas. Link 2
- Viral marketing: A mistake transformed into
promotion
Before this
outrageous event I did not know anything about miss universe and I may assume
that there are a lot of people like me, therefore the show received more
streams and views than ever before, at the end of the day it was good publicity
for the contest, since then I have been watching miss universe every year, Do
you think that Steve Harvey’s mistake brought something valuable to the show? Link 3. Let us look at the stats regarding the streams the show received in 2015 in comparison to the previous years.
2013 : 3.4 million
2014: 6.1 million
2015: 20.1 million already!
In other words the event was a complete success, let us take a look at a poster that I created for the occasion.

One of the
drawbacks of this mistake and the impact of social media is that miss Colombia Ariadna María Gutiérrez went
through hell. She was either mocked or pitied by millions of people around the
world and it tamed her reputation and the one of her country: Colombia
Mistakes can happen, we are
all humans. Steve Harvey assumed his mistake and corrected it immediately. The
way people reacted was simply mean and immature personally I felt bad for him
and I think he learned greatly from his error. The only advice that I could
give is that people should be more tolerant, otherwise, organizers handled the
situation appropriately. What are your thoughts about all of this? Comment
below. For me and you, we are done for today. Peace . Link 6

ReplyDeleteWhile they’re still at it , they should remember that he is a comedian, all he ever does is jokes and he never really means any harm!
ReplyDeleteTrue some people were to harsh with him
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows Steve Harvey is a comedian therefore he shouldn't have taken advantage of that thinking that people will just let him go.He really embarassed Ariadna María Gutiérrez in front of the whole world which ruined his event which was suppossed to be an event of the year.
ReplyDeleteYeah I feel you but he did not do it on purpose though
Deletesteve Harvey is indeed a comedian and that stunt was probably pulled to get viewers talking about the show and for publicity reasons however it clearly backfired ... well written post as well
Delete#Steve😂😂
ReplyDeleteEveryone can flop, but how we correct our mistake is what makes a difference
As much as it was an honest mistake most people concluded that it was a deliberate joke since he's a well known commedian. Nevertheless i really feel he never meant to humiliate Miss colombiana
ReplyDeleteA wise man is he who owns up to his mistake. I think that Steve Harvey did well by acknowledging his mistake.
ReplyDeletePeople make mistakes and steve harvey is a good man and he did the right thing by admiting that he is wrong.
ReplyDeleteMistake does not stop us by living our own lives, we admit, correct and live on. He inspire me a lot.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching it on TV i felt really bad not only for the contestant but also the presenter. Its only normal mistakes happens
ReplyDeleteYeah we are all humans after all
Deletepeople should keep in my mind that we are humans and we make mistakes and what Steve Harvey did was an honest mistake , but we know how social media is the always ready to troll people especially on twitter.
ReplyDeleteExactly but we do not know how to change our attitude on social media
